A Telegram channel that fills itself
A bot collects articles from news websites on schedule, cleans out ads and buttons and publishes them to the channel.
Before
Someone had to find news by hand every day, copy it and publish it. Ads, buttons and broken formatting ended up in the channel along with the text.
After
The bot checks sources on schedule, takes new articles, strips the clutter and publishes a post: photo, headline, text in a collapsible quote and a link to the source.
What the solution does
- Several sources, each on its own schedule, even every 15 minutes
- Removing ads, buttons, embedded posts and share buttons
- Bold, italics and links are kept, lists become bullet points
- A long article goes out as several posts with a link to the continuation
- A post with broken formatting is not published but written to a log
- Repeated digests are skipped
Results
15–20 posts a day without an editor
At least one full working day of a person freed up
